Frequently asked questionsWhat is a therapy session like?

I am currently only providing services through TeleHealth (video therapy). It’s a lot like Zoom or FaceTime, only I use a HIPAA compliant platform through Simple Practice for increased privacy and confidentiality. I’ll be asking questions to find out what is going on. Once we get to know each other a little more, you may find that you want to process your thoughts and feelings through the use of creative expression or you might simply want to talk about what is going on. Either one is fine.

Sessions last 45-50 minutes.

What is the cost of each therapy session and what type of payments do you take?

Individual 45-50 minute office sessions are $175.

80 minute couples sessions are available for $250.

Payment can be made by cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. HSA or FSA cards are also acceptable forms of payment, but require an additional card to be on file. I am happy to talk about this option with you if wish to utilize your HSA or FSA benefits.

Clients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in accordance with the No Surprises Act.

What does a drama therapy session look like?

Every drama therapy session looks a little different. We will start by checking in and seeing where you are in the present moment. We will then work together to address your needs creatively. This may include doing some mindful deep breathing, art, music, or writing that leads us into an improvisation or creation of a physical image. There are many possibilities.

I am not an actor. In fact, I’m a pretty shy introvert. Can drama therapy/creative arts therapy work for me?

Absolutely! Drama therapy is not a therapy designed for actors, but rather an experiential process to help people of all ages process their experiences. We focus on the problem you are experiencing such as anxiety or role transitions and explore ways to help you with the problem through the use of creative methods such as art, creative writing, role play, music or whatever creative method may fit your individual needs.

Where are you located? Is there parking?

Right now all my sessions are through TeleHealth. This allows me to work with clients that are located anywhere in California! Once I feel it is safe to go back into the office, I will be seeing clients at my Burbank office. I will continue to use TeleHealth even when I return to my office if you prefer TeleHealth. My office location has a parking lot and street parking available. My building and office are also accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment. Appointments that are not cancelled within 24 hours will be charged a full session fee.

Do you take insurance?

I am an out of network provider which means if you have a PPO plan, I am able to provide you with a superbill statement to submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement if you meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis and are being seen individually. If you have not yet met your deductible, I can still provide you with a superbill that will go towards your deductible. Once your deductible is met, your insurance company may then begin to provide partial reimbursement. It is important to understand that if you choose to submit a superbill to your insurance company, I am required to submit a diagnosis, which could affect the cost of your insurance premiums in the future. You would also be agreeing for me to submit a diagnosis, treatment plans, progress notes and any other documentation that the insurance company might request. For this reason, some individuals prefer not to involve their insurance companies in their therapy.

Helpful questions to ask your insurance company when calling about mental health reimbursement prior to your first session:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • Do you reimburse for TeleHealth Therapy?
